You might have noticed that the days are getting longer and warmer. Most of us look excitedly toward summer activities; floating down the American river, bar-b-ques, and long warm nights. Warmer weather and mild nights are a comfort to Orangevale Food Bank’s neighbors in need, but the need for food remains. We appreciate the local donors of fresh fruit that grows abundantly on many trees in our community that would otherwise drop to the ground unused. We have begun to harvest nectarines off of our trees as well. We all know of neighbors and friends with a big tree overflowing with fruit that doesn’t get picked. Next time you notice this, think of your neighbors in need. If you have fruit to donate, or know someone who does, reach out to us. We’d love to help. There are times of the year when we really reflect on our lives in gratitude. Thanksgiving and Christmas remind us of how much we have and hearts overflow with grace for others. Need is in the forefront of our thoughts during these special times. Let’s make Summer one of these times as well. Reflect on care-free activities with your families, vacations, swim parties, and Fourth of July celebrations. Think about these times with gratitude. We are so fortunate to live in this community, in this state, in this country. Let our hearts overflow with grace for others this summer in Christmas-time proportions. Orangevale Food Bank is so grateful to all of our donors. Whether it is a one time donation or giving monthly; you are directly impacting people’s lives in your community. Thank you for your continued support of this important resource.
