Local Girl Scouts Making a Difference

Girl Scout Troop 828 has dedicated several evenings to serving at the Orangevale Food Bank. An energized group of 6th-8th grade girls come in to clean, restock and bag food, and much more.

They are currently working on receiving their Silver Award, which consists of 50 hours of community service work. One of the troop members, Chloe, stated, “I enjoy coming because I know I am getting something done.” This “something” is a huge asset to our local community here in Orangevale. Teaching our youth about the hunger needs close to home, and how they can go about helping them, opens their eyes up to so many opportunities for service.

These girls have been dedicating their time to the Food Bank since December 26th 2015. They are currently awaiting the spring weather so they can begin their new project of raising four of our ongoing gardens.

These gardens are an asset to our new developments and changes. They will be used to help teach our youth about growing crops and tending to their needs though out the seasons.

The Orangevale Food Bank would like to give a huge thank you to Troop 828. We appreciate you dedication, selflessness, and will to help others. Thank you!
